I'm wondering if what i'm being charged for, which is written on a ticket that an officer gave me, can be changed to a more serious offense during my court hearing.

No. They can only lower the offense.

Yes.

The ticket is a citation. The DA can examine the facts and add additional charges at any time within the Statute of Limitations.

Nope they write it right there in front of you and give you a copy so if anything is changed you have that paper to show

They can charge you with what they feel they can convict you of. that is the DA's call, not the cop's.
