oh and how about california to rhode island?

Umm, maybe you should go to the post office, or even a packaging store. They can tell you. Not so sure about the one to Australia, but if it's in the states, and isn't any larger than a normal letter-size envelope, then it is just regular postage (1 stamp).

Pretty much all international letters weighing in under 1 oz are 90 cents from the US to anywhere in the world except Canada or Mexico. Those two are cheaper. I mail maybe 20 or 30 letters a month to all sorts of other countries. It's always 90 cents to anywhere but Canada and Mexico.

Anywhere within the US is 41 cents.

Size and weight is a factor for each destination.

type in the necessary info and you'll find the cost. If it's really a card (envelope) it is true that you can mail it from any p.o. box. If it's a package/large envelope, you're going to have to stand in line somewhere.
