I still write, with pen and paper. I even hand address the envelope and put a stamp on it.
Yes I even mail it.

No, it's been forever since I have written a letter to anyone it's really hard to type much less write a letter because I have carpal tunnel syndrome and after a few minutes of doing fine things with my hands and fingers such as sewing and writing my hand begins to hurt from my finger tips all the way up to my elbow. It was worse during pregnancy couldn't even hold a cup of orange juice without the pain.

I enjoy both. I have pen-pals new and old, and enjoy email as well. Even in my emails I try to avoid shortening our language to OMG,BRB, etc. I feel the largest contributor to less and less people writing letters is that in most families now both parents work full time, the children have after school activities and sports, and time is a major factor in their lives. More and more people take advantage of the speed and ease of using email. Like you though, I like to get letters and know that the person I receive it from thinks enough about me to take a break from their busy day to write me.

Yes, some people actually do. My Linguistics professor posed this question to a class of about 35 people last semester. At least 10 people said they actively, and intentionally write letters and keep pen pals.

of course not everyone has email, so there are people I send birthday cards to and when I send them, I write a letter and enclose it before I mail it, but I NEVER get letters in the mail.

The only real letters I ever write are business letters at work, and even those are getting fewer and farther between.
