It would split the democratic vote giving the election to the republicans.

Wrong. He would split the Democratic vote and the Republicans would be back in the White House. By the way, if he ran as an Independent he would be running left of Clinton and far left from the Right. Hillary Clinton is the moderate, Obama the true liberal.

You're wrong in so many ways:
Obama will not run as an independent if he loses the nomination. He'll stay in the Senate and prepare for a future run, since he's still a young man.
Obama is not more conservative than Clinton.
If Obama did run as an independent, he'd split the Democratic vote and guarantee a Republican win.
You appear to know very little about politics. On the plus side, you have a bright future as a political pundit or journalist.

You are utterly wrong.
Obama is not more conservative than Clinton - Clinton is by far the furthest right of the Dem candidates.
Whatsmore an independent running from the left (whether more left than Clinton or not) would take votes from Clinton in far greater numbers than they would from Republicans.

no, it would help the republican nominee win. but he won't run as an independent.
but Ron Paul just might run as a third party candidate, which will split the right-wing vote and take the libertarian vote (which usually votes republican), thus giving the democrats a big win. so it looks like either Clinton or Obama in 2008.

You're wrong. Clinton and Obama are both on the far left which means they would split the leftest vote, helping the Republican win.

Wrong. Very very wrong. That would hurt Hillary. Not help her at all in any way shape or size. Barack Obama is not more conservative than Hillary, if you think that your just stupid.

are you kidding me? this is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. if obama ran as an independent, then the republicans would win for sure. he would take all of the moderate liberals, screwing over hillary. not only that, but the fact that he is black guarantees he would lose much of the moderate and radical republicans.

What good are hypothetical questions, when there is so much that is real and still left for discussion? All you've accomplished here is to allow people to insult you and your knowledge of politics. All negative stuff!
