1/2 is a real, rational number.

The difference between a real and imaginary number is that imaginary numbers have a factor of sqrt(-1) while real numbers do not.

The difference between rational and irrational numbers is that rational numbers can be expressed as the ratio of two intergers. Irrational numbers can't be so expressed.

BTW: integer and whole numbers are the same thing. And counting numbers are positive integers

Well, it is a real number. It cannot be an integer or a natural number, but because it can be written as a quotient of 2 integers it is rational.
