What kind of tringle would each of these be? I really don't understand and need help!
Equilateral, Isosceles, or Scalene?
1. Perimeter = 22. AB = 5x - 12. BC = 3x - 5. AC = x + 3.
2. Perimeter = 41. AB = 2x - 14. BC = 10 + x. AC = 5 + x.

1) (5x-12) + (3x-5) + (x+3)=22
9x-14=22
9x=36
x=4
ab= 5x-12
= 5(4)-12
= 20-12
= 8
bc= 3x-5
=3(4)-5
=12-5
=7
ac= x+3
=4+3
=7
isosceles cuz 2 sides are congruent..

2) (2x-14) +(10+x) + (5+x)=41
4x+1=41
4x=40
x=10
ab=2x-14
=2(10)-14
=20-14
=6
bc=10+x
=10+10
=20
ac=5+x
=5+10
=15
the answer is scalene cuz three sides are not congruent..

1. AB + BC + AC = perimeter of triangle
5x-12+3x-5+x+3=22; solve for x
9x=36
x=4; plug 4 back into the x's
AB=20-12; BC=12-5; AC=4+3
AB=8; BC=7; AC=7; Since exactly 2 of the side lengths are equal, the triangle is isosceles
2. 2x-14+10+x+5+x=41
4x=40
x=10
AB=20-14; BC=10+10; AC=5+10
AB=6; BC=20; AC=15; Since none of the sides are equal, the triangle is scalene.

x= 10.5
