Suns played great defensively against Utah. Even though Tim Duncan had 36pts 17rebs Suns defense looked pretty good.

2005-The reason the Phoenix Suns lost the series to San Antonio was because of unexperience.

2006-The reason the Phoenix Suns lost the series to Dallas was because Amare Stoudemire was out for the season.

2007-The reason the Phoenix Suns lost the series to San Antonio was because of suspensions.

2008-The Phoenix Suns have a great chance.

because they dont respect themselves if they did, the team would learn how to play some D to be able to win a title there is no D in phoenix Defense wins championships which is why they will never win one Raja Bell is a great denfender so why cant he motivate the rest of his teams to play better defense? again, goes back to the "they dont respect themselves" theme. have to play team ball they need some vocal leaders I dont see it happening? Shawn Marion defender? lol yes he can block shots but who are we kidding? he cant guard anyone one on one

I have nothing against the Suns, whats so ever. If anything I wanted them to beat the Spurs in that exiting game, where Amarie and Nash were playing at a Hall Of Famer level!

Since Nash came back to the Suns the last 3 yrs have been a 59 win team on avg.....Take a look at the Bucks of the 80's. They always won 49, 55, or 60 games always deep into the playoffs then eliminated by the Hawks, Boston, 76ers.....etc.

The Suns just haven't gotton that respect on the defensive side. Sure they can run up the season leading in points (109.2ppg) and 3-pointers attempted. But defensive wins the game

ex: Jordan and his "O" so famous cross-over on Russell in the 98 Finals, against the Jazz. What lead to that offense was his defense (Besides being Michael Jordan of course)

If you have noticed, teams that usually score 77 to 90 pts explode for 130 pts the next night (like wow.....uhhh unexpected) Defence, sure they have improved a titty bit, but nothing like the Celtics, Jazz, or Spurs.

The Suns like I said on your last question, only have: Raja Bell-being there best defensive player, but not getting that clock he got last 2 season's since Grants come.

Shawn Marion really plays defense beyond Raja Bell. That's why his called the Matrix beyond filling the stats.

Amare Stoudemire there only big-man that's really a PF,

Grant Hill: Can play defense but not Detroit in the 90's defens, but can still play.

I hope the Suns get into the Finals at least, Steve Nash has 2 MVP''s and has yet to seen an appearance in the NBA Finals.

Too answer your question it's because they don't play defense. Shawn Marion is far from underrated, Raja Bell is an above average defender. Stoudemire has been playing better defense this year, but still doesn't have the ability to guard a dominant big man such as Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard, etc..... Steve Nash doesn't play D at all a rock could play better defense. I'm laughing that you say that the Suns are underrated on defense. They are terrible at defense!

I agree with you they deserve the respect, however, until they find a way to get to the finals I think people will continue to view the Suns as a great team in the regular season and a failure in the playoffs. In an almost meaningless (only because the playoffs are so far away) game against the Spurs last night they actually took a tiny step towards earning more respect. That aside no one is going to deny that they are an excellent team and a contender in the West.

Because they havent done anything besides going to the second round and get beat this last few years..
Please don't talk defense when you talking about the suns.
Nash the 2 time MVP(who robed Bryant) can on play offense and thats pretty much it.
The only skill Nash has at the defensive end is draw charges..
Why should people respect Suns when Bell thinks his better than everybody else(Bryant) who do they think they are..
Suns have absolutely nothing be proud of, unlike Spurs..

They will never get passed the SPURS

The other answer to this question is absurd. Why does it matter what a person looks like? Its about their skill as a player, and Steve Nash is the best point guard in the league, and Amare Stoudemire is one of the most explosive centers. What makes it even more impressive is that he had those knee surgeries.

I honestly don't know why people wouldn't respect this team. With the exception of Raja Bell (who had that infamous clotheslining-Kobe-Bryant incident), they're classy players and extremely talented. I think its the simple fact that their defense isn't great, and you DO need good defense to beat other teams. However, I think their defense is picking up, and they are definately a serious championship contender this year. The series with the Spurs last year was controversial at best, and very well could've turned out differently if it weren't for Cheap Shot Horry.

Despite all of your excuses, they still haven't won a championship. They get respect, but they aren't considered "elite" until the win.

Yes, they have a good team and they are fun to watch, but they haven't done a lot in the playoffs.

They have a great core group of players (and have for several years) but they haven't quite made it over the top.

They are one of the best teams in the league, but until they make a real championship run they will be considered "below" teams like San Antonio and Detroit.

sure he does. Shaq makes the Suns a decelerate 0.5 courtroom team, it somewhat is against what the Suns easily need to do(run you off the courtroom). If we are in a position to conform with this new form of play, then it would exercising consultation. Shaq merely needs to stay healthful and play for 30 minutes each and every recreation

the suns and bulls are the biggest fakers in flops that i know are in the nba right now. its seems like in every game, nash, barbosa, and bell are falling down. some of the hit, i have to agree are pretty bad but ive seen games where nash falls down like 6 time, raja bell fakes a fall just cuz he can, and barbosa goes flying through the air as if he got hit with a car, even though it was a little nudge. the NBA has even debated on penalizing players for fake flopping because of the sun. thats why i dont respect them.

Everybody hates on them because they truthfully dont have a respectable lineup in the eyes of many

I know they have the players you mentioned but their style does not really utilize the big man and playoff time it is the bigman with the easy shots

Lastly they have yet to prove they can beat a quality caliber team in the playoffs(ahem Spurs ahem) but you never know they might pull it off this year

Goodluck with the Suns this year but im a laker fan and I hope we get a rematch (i know again right) in the playoffs
