in order to work in this field you would need to take many advanced biology classes as well as studying genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology. As you move to your degree classes about the various forms of marine life would be taken like on invertebrate studies, phycolory(algae), marine ecology, as well as on marine ichthyology(fish) amd mammalogy. Many of these animal classes will require you to not only collect speciment but dissect them as well. To actively pursue this carreer you would need to follow up with your masters and finally get your Phd specializing in your main point of interest. Eckard's colege in Florida is a good school for marine biology. Other school can be found in California, hawaii, and the upper east coast.

it definately depends on what you want to do as a marine biologist and where you want to work, in any case it requires the love of marine animals and a thirst of knowledge.

Depending on the job, you may have to collect the dead animals floating in water, cut them up and send samples to pathology labs to find why they died. You also have to work in boats and dive in water. I get sea sick easily, and can not swim. I am out.
