I know that I will have to get surgery and I am afraid although I am trying to be as strong as I possibly can. Has anyone gone through surgery for an ovarian cyst that was very large like I do, and if so how was your time in recovery and how did you fell when you woke up? How long was recovery time?

I had a cyst that size and had surgery to remove it. Really it's not so scary nowadays. It's very routine, they've got excellent pain control. You'll be in the hospital maybe 3 days. You won't be able to lift anything for awhile, or drive. You'll take it easy for maybe 2 weeks, then you'll feel much better, and before you know it, you'll be better than you were before. It's such a relief to get that giant thing out of you!

I have had surgery to take care of a cyst but mine was a 4 cm functional cyst. The surgery was also done to tend to another of my medical problems but my doctor drained the cyst and when I woke up from surgery I felt relief from the cyst I had going on.
It can take about 1-2 weeks to recover from surgery if it's done laparoscopically.
