What do you think of The Secret Life of Bees?

i havent finished reading it yet. im about 1/3 of the way in. so i was just wondering what people thought about it. please DONT give away the ending

I enjoyed it a great deal and think of it each time I pass a pink house near where I used to work. (What?? Just keep reading.) You're probably far enough into the book that the narrator and her former nanny are on the run--remind you of anything? A white teenager and a black adult on the run together, the teen from an abusive father and the adult from the authorities? Now suppose they were male. Anything register yet? Alas, no raft!
