I am on it, I heard some things that freaked me out about it.
Is it true that it has made people infertile before?
Because Im not wanting a kid right now,
but in the future I definitely want like 3 lol

Please reconsider the shot.

What you heard is true for some women.

Some women get pregnant ON the shot, some get pregnant immediately after coming off of the shot, and some need to see a fertility specialist in order to conceive.

Those are only a FEW of the horrible issues that affect a majority of women on depo provera.

Please google "depo provera lawsuit" and check out the reviews at http://www.rateitall.com/t-330-birth-control-methods.aspx

I'm a former depo user. I'm so glad I'm off that poison and only hope that I can conceive in the future.

I was on Depo for 8 years, after 7 my dr. suggested i have a bone scan to check for loss of bone mass. My insurance co. at the time didn't cover the test & I needed $350 up front, so I put it off. A yr. later I switched insurance co.'s & my new one covered it. It showed Osteopenia, which is what you have right before osteoporosis. In case you aren't sure what that is, it's usually found in old woman, thats what causes the hump in the back or allows a hip to fracture so easily, becuase the bones start to deteriorate. I'm only 26 years old, the dr. told me that at the rate I was going I would have been crippled in 10 years. Thats pretty scary! I knew they said it could cause bone loss, but I certainly didn't realize how serious it could be. Luckily because I am young it should reverse itself, but I will have to be rechecked in another yr. (2yrs. after initial scan). I also believe that it was the cause of my migraines. But to answer your question, I heard that as well. I recommend that you consider another b.c. option. The convenience of only getting it once every 3 months isn't worth the risk either way. You may want to ask your dr. about Nuva Ring, Its a great product, but unfortunately my body isn't made like every other woman & the thing wouldn't stay put... dr. said she had never had someone with that problem before. lol

GOOD LUCK! And I hope this was a little help. If you have any other questions, please ask.

It can cause a delay in fertility for sure. If you decide you want to have a kid, and you stop the shot, you may have to wait up to a year to gain fertility back. It can, however, cause infertility, but it is super rare, so don't stress yourself out over it.
