Stress can cause this to happen, also not getting adequate amounts of rest.

Twitches like this can come. They're caused by a nerve set off by any number of stimuli. I suggest using a warm compress to cover the eye. A clean wash cloth soaked with hot water out of the tap. Apply it right over the eye and the area twitching. Let the rag cool a bit and not so wet it drips on you. Keep it on until it cools, then reapply the compress until the twitch is gone. I've used this method before for a twitch and it does work for me. Good luck.

Most eye twiches are harmless, involuntary spasms of the tiny muscles surrounding the eye. Some causes are fatigue, squinting a lot, consuming too much caffeine, or working in a less than ideal visual environment, e.g., staring at a computer screens for long periods of time. Just like a muscle spasm at any other part of the body, an eye twitch can mean you've taxed your muscles and need to relax them.
You can stop it by taking a hot bath, warm or cold compresses, rinsing your eye out with warm water, or using eye drops.

It's just a nerve gone haywire. It's annoying as all get out, but all you can do is wait for it to go away. Could take a day, could take weeks. Sorry man.

Sometimes that is a sign of eye strain. If it doesn't stop, you might get them checked to see if you need vision correction.
