Anyone who knows history well...

I've heard once before that history does not show evidence that hebrew slaves built pyramids as the old testament in the bible would suggest. I can't find much on this when I looked up in google, just more biblical references... however, I am not Christian, I am just curious.

Did it happen?

The pyramids were built by craftsmen and architects who were Egyptian. The labor was supplied by Egyptian fellahin who were unemployed for four months every year when the Nile flooded.
The remains of villages to house these workers have been discovered in the area of the pyramids.
There is no evidence from Egyptian sources of the extensive use of slave labor.

In the early days pyramids were built by farmers, not slaves. It was a make work project to occupy them during the inundation.

By the time of Ramses II, the Hebrews were slaves and were employed in the building of pyramids. There was also an attempt to limit their numbers by killing male children (actually a stupid move because one male can impregnate many women whereas a shortage of females would have limited the number of births).

Unfortunately, the best references for this are in the Bible. There are some references in Egyptian history, but they are much harder to find.

Do a search for Ramses II
