I came up with Wednesday, but i'm not sure.

For all you geniuses out there that tell me to "do my own homework" or "get a job" this is a question that my nephew had in his work book that I was trying to answer for him. BTW, THANKS to everyone that actually took the time to answer my question.

you just look at the day after yesterday. If the day before yesterday is Monday, then Yesterday must be Tuesday, which would make today Wednesday.. but the 6 days after today doesn't make sense, because that would make it tuesday ..

It depends on how you count, but I got Tuesday.
We all agree that "but before yesterday is Monday" means that you end on Monday. If you end on a Tuesday, then yesterday was Monday. You want to end before yesterday is a Monday, so you have to end on a Monday. Now, count "up" 6 days to Monday.
Suppose today is Wednesday. Count up 6 days: 1) Thurs, 2) Fri, 3) Sat, 4) Sun, 5) Mon, 6) Tues. This means that yesterday is Monday. WRONG! So it's not Wednesday.
Suppose today is Tuesday. Count up 6 days: You wind up with 6 = Monday, which is right.
However, if you count the current day as one of the "days", you incorrectly get Wednesday because it says 6 days AFTER today.

I'm not quite sure of what the answer is, but here's how the information of the problem is coming out:
the day before yesterday- monday
therefore
yesterday- tuesday
today then must be wednesday
however,
six days after wednesday- tuesday

And yesterday was Monday so...Got me. I think it's sometime last week.
Seriously, maybe this is one of those questions like where do they bury the survivors, or who's the bus driver. The obvious answer is correct, but it looks like something hard.
