is a friend of mine from a recovery group that we both attend.
When I meant her 2 months ago I gave her my name, -email address, and phone #. I do this with everyone that I meet at group, as I enjoy helping others who wish to help themselfs.
Tonight she told me about a boyfriend that her mom has who is a total @sshole. She tells me that this guy struck her mom, so she went to her mothers defence, only to have this @sshole choak her. So she goes to the police and tells them about it, she signed some papers. Now she is worried that the guy will return to hurt them both.
I told her that she had done the right thing about helping her mom, telling the police about, and calling me to talk about it.
What more could I have done for the young lady??

support is the best thing you can do ,,,,, just let her know you are there to help her when she needs you
and see if she can get some self defense classes ,,,,,some instructor will teach her for free if you explain to them what her situation is .just check with them befor you tell her

Maybe suggest to her and her mom to visit a relative or take a vacation for awhile to get away from where the ex-boyfriend would know to find them. Perhaps if they aren't around for awhile he'll move on. Maybe even suggest a permant move all together. Personally I'd feel safer moving.
Props on being a good friend.

Not much else. Sounds like her mom has issues that she needs to deal with, just be her friend, that's all you can or should do.

Referred her to a women's abuse shelter so the guy can't come back? I think you did what you could, and that's what counts. Just keep checking in every so often...
