You need to pay or move, it might take them a while to get you evicted but eventually it will happen.

I don't know why people are assuming that you do drugs, drink or smoke either.

There are many people in the world that are decent and hard working that have very tough times financially.

You should speak with your landlord and explain your issues as soon as possible and make every effort to pay something constantly, even if it isn't the entire rent. I'm don't know how things work in Australia -- are there any social organizations that can help assist you?

Good luck!

Yes you can be booted out. Even though you are in government housing and are on a low income, there are people who are also on low incomes and can still manage to pay the rent and are desperate for the house you are in.

Are you getting rental assistance from Centrelink along with your pension? I assume so but check it out. If you still can't afford the rent (even on a benefit) speak to Centrelink to see if there are any other payments you can claim. Otherwise, work out a budget and that may mean giving up the drugs, drink and smokes. Try it, you save a fortune!

If you're getting a government subsidy to help pay for housing, do you have a case worker? That'd be your first call I would think.

If you're not getting a government subsidy, if you're paying the rent all by yourself but it's in a low-income/government-run housing complex, ask the resident manager who you need to contact. Is there a Housing and Urban Development-type branch of government where you are? They would be the ones to talk to.

Just arrange to pay this off as well you won't be kicked out if you talk to them. I take it you are on centrelink payments even offer to have your rent paid by centrepay which is paid by centrelink before you get your pay into the bank a friend of mine has that done and she finds she doesn't miss it as much that way
