I think it IS possible
When it comes down to it, we are HUMANS NOT robots, meaning that we HAVE the ability to change. I wish more people were to see this, and UNDERSTAND it.

I do believe it is possible. But is it likely? Iit depends on the circumstances.
I'd venture to say that the chances are slim; however when the stakes are high, the chances that someone will make a valid attempt are higher.

if it has been going on for 4 years guess what it will continue to go on for 4 more years and 4 more years and so on. a person cannot change, they are already set in thier ways and wont change just so you will stay with them. if they havent changed by now they wont ever change. goodl uck.

A person can change, if they want to change.
Lots of people who do bad things continously, promises to change - just to get people to stay in their lives ... but they rarely change.

short answer NO! Unless they do something to obvious to make and stick to the changes. People do NOT change. It's very very hard.

depending on age, the older they are the more set in their ways some never change even if it was for the better

No, no, a thousand times NO. They have to want to change for themselves, not for you or their parents or whoever else...well, except for maybe God, but that's another issue.
