If the draft was reinstated ppl should honor it.
Anyone who runs doesn't deserve freedom if they are not willing to fight for it. Also those cowards should never be allowed back and should never ask anything from the US.

Pray harder! I already pray for them all as I have a son and nephew in the army and 2 nephews in the marines. The two in the army haven't been deployed yet, they haven't been in long enough. One of the marines has been to Iraq 3 times (he's career) and the other twice. The one that's been three times came back the last time with some major stomach problems. he's been having these problems for months and has lost 70 lbs because he can't eat. He lived off of slushies for two months cause that's all he could get down. He went to Bethesda to see some specialists last week and we are hopeful they can find out what the problem is. I too would like to thank all that have EVER served our country to help retain our freedom, but I have an extremely large family (90 in my immediate family counting in-laws and steps, Dad, 6 kids, 17 grands, 39 great-grands, 1st gr-gr-grand will arrive next month) and a draft would get a lot of them. PEACE!

Serve my country or get out, (even though I'm probably too old).
LIke the veteran said, "you don't get to pick your battles", but you go.
My husband served Viet Nam (hit twice) and still wakes me up with jerking and nightmares.
My son 9 years in Army, Kosovo, Bosnia, Korea, just missed Iraq, and somehow held a family together (lost part of hearing in left ear from artillary practice).
As for those who opt for Canada, good luck after NAU and SPP finalized.
There may be a lot wrong with America, but if not for men and women serving, we would not be discussing this as liberally as we are right now. No one ever promised life would be fair or easy. Bothers me that so many can't find something in America worth fighting for.
And..... the draft will be instituted in the next 3 years.

I wouldn't go, Our country should have allies not enemies.
I won't live in a country that will draft me to fight in some war because they need me to do their dirty work. You can call it "fighting for our country" but either way you look at it People die, get hurt, lose their lives. Our country is suppose to help us have better lives. Should war even be a solution? I would say no.
We are taught every day in school that violence is permitted, but then our country allows and trains people to do the opposite to solve problems. Isn't that constricting? History may be repeated but thats only because our country allows it to happen.
Our country just needs a lot of improvements.

I hope they never reinstate it
I would rather serve with men and women who volintered and want to to be there in the first place
and you should thank all those that do volunteer
if they didn't they would have a draft
so look at it like they took your place
and sacrificed for you

Cry. I wouldn't want to lose my hubby or children=( But I can say that there are many military (wo)men that I am very thankful for their protection. The America that we live in today would never be able to have another draft though.

I do not foresee that happening, however if it should I would be unhappy about it to say the least. I am a mother of three boys and a stepmom to two as well. I am not for this war at all. Too many people are losing their lives for a battle that is never going to be won. I respect our soldiers but they ar ebeing put in positions that are not neccesary and suffering for the mistakes of our government! Freedom does not come free but I feel you should have a choice in joining the military instead of being drafted into it! I would have to say that I would probably protest the draft if it were reinstated. I have often feared that myself because of my sons. Being in the military has its advantages but also has MANY disadvantages at this point. The affects of this war will be seen for decades to come I am afraid. Not only the financial strain it is putting on our economy but also the emotional stress it is putting on our soldiers and their families.

As an American, I'd honor it if it included me.
I don't care for the idea, however. I feel that service to one's country should be voluntary.

I served in the Navy while very young, but if they really decide they need my tired old can in service again, I'll suck it up and go in asking what I can do.

I'm no longer physically able to serve, though I would still help my country in an intellectual capacity if they asked me to.
