It's a little less than that, it's from Dell and it's currently $800 off for me. It would be fully decked out with everything I could possibly need including a 4 year warrenty, etc.

Worth it or not (the deal can be seen on slickdeals.net frontpage)

I think the real question is, do you have the money? Otherwise, the credit card fees will kill you. You've talked about being close to being out of a job -- maybe now is the time to save money so you can move out of your parent's home, get your own place, and find a job you love. I don't see how a laptop will help you there -- you clearly already have a computer where you can be online anyway, so what do you need a laptop for? Sorry to be such a drag.

You have to ask yourself what are you going to use this laptop for. If it is for a desktop replacement, then $1400 is an okay price. If you are looking for a gaming laptop, then you are looking around a little under $4000 and that is the XPS line. If you are looking to just do office work or school work HP has one from $500-$800. I have one of these HP's and am able to do all productivity software and some 3D modeling and animation..... good luck

well you should ask yourself what do you need the laptop for if you need something for gaming then desktop is better. If you need it for publishing once again desktop do much better job, if you want to browse the net or do occusional work on it then may be you should get a slower laptop that just does that at cheaper price you know you can save the money, and buy a better laptop a few years later when the prices will be a lot cheaper and laptops will be a lot better, hope you like my suggestion just be wise :)
