The age of consent in Louisiana is 17 (where she is from). Jamie is 16. Casey is 19. Does this make it statutory rape? I would hope not...

He won't be charged with statutory rape! He can breathe a sign of relief.

According to DMV records, the Department of Motor Vehicles (and a family member) have confirmed that Jamie Lynn Spears' babydaddy is only 18 years old.

Casey Aldridge was born on April 29th, 1989.

Jamie Lynn was born on April 4th, 1991. That puts her at just under two years younger than him.

Guess it depends on which state law will followed under statutory rape. I read if in Lousiana, it would be classified as Felony carnal knowledge and can carry 6 months to 10 years imprisonment and $5000 bond (I think). It really depends on where she resides, assuming it's California, but I think it's the same. They might look at the Louisiana or California Law.

In the case of the girl in Whale Rider, where she lives, she's at the age of consent.

Her boyfriend might marry her to save face and definitely stay out of jail. At least she didn't stage a fake marriage like Beyonce's sister Solange when she got knocked up at age seventeen. Hopefully they'll be smart and keep a low profile.

At least she, well they, took responsibility for their actions. It's a shame she's taking all the heat. After all her boyfriend is just as irresponsible in having the pregnancy happen. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and hope she was smart enough to be on the Pill and that she may not have taken it correctly or it wasn't effective.

Hope her boyfriend does the right thing and marry her.

i think he should be charged, just like 17 year-old Genarlow Wilson was.Second,to all the people who say that Casey Aldridge is a "star" well,he's not and even if he was, he should still be charged because he is three years older than Jamie Lynn. And even if he was rich, the judge gets to choose which trials he will put bail on,and this shouldn't be one of them.

He should go and face the FULL sentence. Paris Hilton is another horrible Star always in the news for wrong reasons. She tried to get away with it but her look was at the end. They should treat celebs the same as everyone els, regardless of the social class or star power. If it was any other person they would go to jail NO QUESTION! i just hope they get punished as the same everyone els would.

Yah, but it will never happen for two reasons:

1). The Spears have more than enough $$$ to buy their own justice.

2). With the boy in jail, the ensuing trainwreck that would make many a tabloid magazine famous would be stopped before it left the station. And they won't stand for that crap.

He could be charged w/ statuatory rape(technically). But it takes 2 to tango. I'm sure they will discover when the baby comes they are both suffering enough.

He could be. But her mom would have to be the one that presses the charges on him. i do not think she will. she would have already done it the second that she found out that her kid was pregnant
