Well, I majored in journalism and minored in political science, which is pretty common.
The catch -- I'm in sports. Essentially always have been. But politics always interested in me.
You need to learn the principles of journalism first, and then figure out what you are interested in. If you want to cover law, or medicine, or culture, or music, there are courses in it. I took a lot of different course in college, figuring the more well-rounded I could be the better off I'd be. I took film, advertising, sports law, marketing, etc. in addition to the usual liberal arts.
