I just asked some questions if I should leave my current job for a video store. About 99% (including me) say I should make the change.
I was looking at the application and I have two areas that I need some advice first.
First, is says are you currently employed? Yes, I am, at Taco Bell. I'm not a big fan of it and want to change. But the part I'm concerned about is "Can we Contact Your Current Employer?"
I want to say no, just in case I don't get the vid store job, taco bell wont be mad. But if I check no, will this hurt my chances?
And two, they ask if I would be "willing to relocate?" I again want to say no (I'm only 16), but really want this job.
So what should I do for these two sections of the application?
By the way, in the Two Weeks Notice I give taco Bell if I get hired, I'm gonna say I have to quit due to school or a spring sport (so if I don't like the new job, I could come back).

Most places won't even call if you check yes to contact the current employer.
And just put no to relocating...most people won't unless it's some sort of a business job or a career.
And your plan for the two weeks notice is good so you're not leaving on bad terms.

It's always hard to switch job especially when your 16.
The best advice I can give you is DON"T quit Taco Bell before knowing you have the vid store job.
Taco Bell is use to people trading up for a better job trust me!
Don't stay in a job that your not happy in. You will just have to go for it. Mark your application YES contact my current employer. Future employers need to know you already proved you can hold down a job and be responsible enough to do so. Give a 2 week notice at Taco bell also. Don't do anything that would make you not re-hire-able. Most employers do not expect 16 year olds to relocate for A job mark no on this. It will not likely be held against ya! Just tell Taco Bell you are trying to improve yourself by getting a better job. Everyone will respect that choice. Good Luck!
I wish my 17 year old would find a new job he quit his in September without having a new job 1st. He no can pay his cell phone bill. Poor thing!

I think it's fine to say don't contact the current employer -- just be sure to offer some references from other former employers. The person hiring has got to understand that you don't want to lose your current job if the video store isn't interested.
You could say that you are willing to relocate -- it might mean to another store in the city and not necessarily to a new city. I think on this one, you could always change your mind in the future because of things that happen in life.
I don't think you owe Taco Bell an explanation as to why you are quitting. Just say that you are leaving to pursue other interests. Maybe you have an interest in movies and not ground beef tacos.

I would check "No" on the contact employer question, and "Yes" on relocation. Pencil in that you cannot relocate to another town, just to another job.
Your explanation about quitting sounds good. Besides, I think they know that nobody wants to work at Taco Bell forever.

Well, in your situation I would state that I am currently employed - for some reason, it is easier to get another job if you are already employed. If that bothers you, either tell the manager of the video store or state on the application your concerns about your present manager finding out that you seek change. That solves your second problem.

cause of your age they will not expect you to relocate
as for the contacting current employer part, say yes and explain that you dont want to make Taco Bell mad, they will respect your honesty
Good luck, I know how hard it is to work and go to school at the same time

i say tell the truth and just check yes for the contacting your employer and no for relocating. if you can turn your application in in person so you can explain your situation. if you cant do that go to the store and ask them questions about it. just tell your job at TB that you are looking for better work that will fit around your schedule. good luck

I suspect it might not look good on your application if you just check no...if you explain to them why during the interview that's another situation. Just be honest. I wouldn't even worry about the relocation part.
But a side note: most fast food places, once you give them your two week notice will just take you off the work schedule.

In a perfect world a dirty beard would have absolutely no effect on a job interview. That is, as long as the job had nothing to do with being clean shaven. Sadly, this is not a perfect world and therefore it may. If you happen to be interviewed by a particularly shallow person then that might effect their opinion of you.

I think it would be best to explain to your prospective employer that you do not want your current employer to know you are looking for other employment. Just my opinion. Also, I think at 16, they know you can't relocate.
