I prefer a card with a small note. I like the personalized stuff. Photo cards are nice, but I don't want to have to keep them. (I feel guilty throwing them away.) A small note is nice because then I know they were thinking of me specifically when they wrote it, not just when they wrote my address on the envelope.

If it's from an individual, a card from that person, commercial or hand-made, whatever. Any note should include stuff both about the sender and about the recipient, even if it's just one extra hand-written line, so show the sender is actually *remembering* the recipient.

If it's from a *family*, the family photo is preferred for folk who know the *family*. I personally don't believe family photos are appropriate to send to professional acquaintances.

Although I'm delighted to hear from friends and family in any way, shape, or form, I must admit that I love seeing an updated photo every year. Happy Holidays!

All we get are cards with their names in them. Our friends and relatives don't know how to write or take pictures.
