160,000 divided by 700mb (average lenght movie)?

200 hours of video, according to the Apple website.
That makes about 133 standard movies.

lots and lots!!! lets look at it this way. if 2 movies = about 1.5 gb divide 160 by1.5 and you get about 106 movies. that is a huge har drive and you will be able to store more than most computers can. if you really think you will use that much space go ahead and get it - but i would save the $ and go for the 80gb classic. remember you can take the movies off the iPod when you are done looking at them and save in your iTunes folder shoudl you want to view it again.

alot of people don't realize that they may have the 160 gb iPod but their computer is only equipped with an 80 gb hard drive, so really they can't access all the storage on the iPod because they need the computer to transfer the files. alternative is to get an external hard drive that allows for that amount of data.

a larger movie like Pirates takes about a gig
An average movie is a little more than 3/4ths a gig.
A half hour tv show is about a fourth a gig.
