My Dad says that when he dies he wants to be buried on his property which has been in the family for many decades. Can this be done? Is there any laws against it? Would you have to apply for any special permits for doing such a thing?

This has been done in the past (like up until the early 1900's), but I believe that you need to get a permit for that.

I don't believe there are state or local laws that specifically outlaw this...........check with your attorney as the town will just tell you no.

A friend of mine looked at a home in Bergen County, NJ where there was a double grave in the back yard. but the grave was over 100 years old.

You have to have special permits and meet certain criteria. Suggest you talk to a funeral director- they should be able to give you the 411
