When a republican talks about Christianity or what they believe they are attacked in the media like senator Mike Hukabee was someone called him a cave man. When a dem is using religion in a speech he is not attacked by the media like Obama was or John Edwards.

When a person claims to be a Christian, you're going to be held to a higher standard. That's the case, period. And the Religious Right screams that the Republicans are the only ones that are true, genuine Christians, so the media scrutinizes them closely to see if that's true. If anything, the Religious Right has brought this type of scrutiny on the Republican party.

And the ideas brought up in these answers to this question are laughable. Generally the idea is that Republicans/The Right embrace Christianity or "judeo-Christian values" while Democrats do not. The problem is that The Right uses Christianity to try to win elections, then they allow greed to run rampant, allow theft to go on unchecked by the wealthiest one percent, and allow everyone else to deal with what's left.

Also, a poster was right in saying that the Democrats have been attacked as the "heathen left" for many years. The concept of a Democrat being a Christian is a big deal because the Right has constantly claimed that the Democrats are nothing more than heathens.

Christians should always be prepared for extra scrutiny. In an episode of CSI once, a high profile criminal the CSI's had caught was on trial. One of the CSI personnel complained that he felt like CSI was on trial instead of the guy accused of the crime. His boss said "CSI is *always* on trial." Their forensics work had to stand up to scrutiny.

As Christians, that's the life we face. When we claim the name of Christ, we will face more scrutiny and we have to own up to it and stand strong through it.

I am a conservative and I agree that Huck uses the Bible card to an extreme, and I don't agree with that any more than some of his operatives in the "Bible belt" criticizing Romney's faith.And that way over the line. But, I have never hear Huck jump on evolution as infered by several people here. They think that stereotypical Way that depicts Christians as flat worlders (and Ive heard that on Y/A as well)
I believe God created the universe, but I don't know how...evolution is as good a way as any, and whose to say the creator didn't use evolution? Huh? I'd like to hear a better way?
Yes theres bias all around, that's why popular people avoid the topics of Politics and religion in public....unless your running for President.

Hukabee believes the bible is the direct word of god, and evolution never really happened!!!!! ANYONE who says this is probably less intelligent than a caveman: republican or democrat. Really, you are comparing apples and oranges.

And furthermore, democrats are the ones who are always being attacked as soulless heathens who hate the U.S. Where have you been for the past seven years?

To answer your question;

I don't call it a bias, I call it skewed reporting by the media. If a republican talks about Christianity they are portrayed by the media as preaching. If a democrat talks about Christianity they are portrayed by the media as enlightened.

Huckabee started quoting scripture ... and if a Dem started quoting scripture it would have the same result

people seem to want a president with faith, they just don't want another fanatic ... GW Bush has cured us of that

Because most Republicans talk about Christianity as if it is the absolute truth. While most Democrats talk about religion in general and address it as a belief, faith, etc.

Carter was mocked for talking about his religion and Romney was praised for it. The media does not mind if politicians talk about their religion, they just object to people who actually believe it.

A lot of those type of things are ment for publicity. They could really be ture and happening, but be careful about what you hear and what you send around. If there is than they are not being fair, but life's not fair!

Well it depends, the media has a liberal bias. The Democrats generally encourage secularism, while Republicans generally encourage Judeo-Christian beliefs. While Huckabee is called all kinds of names, this is mostly by the Democrats and liberal-leaning media, not Republicans.
