The bill for 3 glasses of orange juice and 5 pancake specials is $7.60, but the bill for 5 glasses of orange juice and 4 pancake specials is $7.90. What is the cost of 1 glass of orange juice? What is the cost of one pancake special?

3x + 5y = 7.60
Rearrange:
x = (7.60 - 5y) / 3

5x + 4y = 7.90
Sub the first equation into this one:
5((7.60 - 5y) / 3) + 4y = 7.90
((38 - 25y) / 3) + 4y = 7.90
Multiply each term by 3:
38 - 25y + 12y = 23.70
-13y = -14.30
y = $1.10

Sub back into the first equation:
x = (7.60 - 5(1.10)) / 3
x = $0.70

Therefore the price of orange juice is $0.70 and the price of the pancake special is $1.10
