perhaps the media portrays Ann as a reactionary conservative, rather than a "thoughtful" constervative, in which republicans are hoping to win that recognition.

When someone says something that a Marxist (liberal) disagrees with, they tend to call them a fascist. Being that fascists are also a left wing phenomena, that in itself is hilarious and shows a certain lack of critical thinking.
