yea so i got a trojan virus from limewire and it almost completly screwed up my computer, i removed limewire now im trying to get rid of the virus.
what i need to know is:
what anti-virus system(free) should i get because AVG works for sh** and i need a good one
and
are there any other file-sharing networks that wont give me viruses, or atleast not as bad as limewire

okay so i guess they'll all just mess me up. i used to have bearshare, but because of it i had to get a new computer. so i'll just go without any file sharing network.

You are making a common mistake in assuming that an anti-virus app can give you total protection.

Anyway, For your anti-virus needs, I would suggest Avira AntiVir® PersonalEdition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than most "paid-for" anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources. Uses less then 10 MB RAM on my machine. And did I mention that it's free for life! Works great on my Vista box, too.

Theres is no downloading website that is not affected so the best thing u should do is Buy music from shops or the web and even though AVG is free it sometimes falsely detects viruses so i would recommand u to find out what is the virus then seach it on the web and they will show how to deal with it.You can check out www.bleepingcomputer.com.There was a time when i got this virus and i downloaded a software from the web to deal with the virus and it helped.Good Luck.

you had receive virus by using limewire because that software is a P2P software , p2p means other people upload the software and at the same time , u download the software......Thus , if others upload viruses , u received virus ....
Ok..back to topic...I suggest that you download the avast antivirus that is totally free .... If you hate limewire , i can suggest you other file sharing network that work like limewire , i recommend you bearshare .... (but ...sometimes , bearshare also contain virus ) .... It is almost immposible if you want download pirated stuff without risking ......If you really don't want to use any file sharing network , using bittorent to download free stuff is your last choice .....Because download by using bittorent are much safer or even can say no virus.....But download by using bittorent is illegal , you may be caught by police.........

Any P2P, is going to give you a nasty trojan virus. Cease with the P2P and you will have less risk of becoming infected.

Ok, well that's what you get for breaking the law...I'm sure you were....
If you want something half descent (since i'm sure you really got spyware and not a virus) download AWC...it's free. It's not anti-viral, but don't be fooled into thinking that's what you need.
Stop downloading illegal files.

try upgrading to torrents. Use ww.mininova.org to search for them and then utorrent to download them.
As for what anti virus to use to get rid of it try using spyware doctor (free, pack.google.com) and avast (free, download.com) though its not really better the AVG, but it beats its detection ratings.
