Yes! They Braves have a great shot at winning the division next year. There lineup is still one of the best in the bigs. And say what you want about our pitching staff, but I am pretty sure that there isn't a GM in the Majors wouldn't be happy to have Smoltz, Glavine, and Hudson as their top three starting pitchers.
Just look at our lineup
1. Kelly Johnson 2B
2. Yunel Escobar SS
3. Chipper Jones 3B
4. Mark Teixeira 1B
5. Jeff Francouer RF
6. Brian McCann C
7. Matt Diaz LF ( I believe he should be the starter)
8. lets hope Mike Cameron, but if not Josh Anderson CF
9, SP
Sounds pretty good to me?
And also the Mets pitching staff SUCKS and will SUCK next year. And the Phillies got SO lucky this year.
The Marlins are obviously in a rebuilding year ( getting rid off Willis and Cabrera shows that)
And the Nationals...... well there the Nationals what do you expect. Greatness? I don't think so.
So I say why not US? We have the best team I believe and the best chance.
Atlanta Braves 08' World Series Champs!!!

yep. Texiara had a really awesome start with the Braves. They picked up an elite starter in John Smoltz. Brian McCann will recover from a sophmore slump. John Smoltz and Glavine may be getting old, but they still are two of the best pitchers in the league. And they have Hudson behind them. Jeff Francouer will do better than he did last season (which says a lot, considering he hit 105 RBI's). And you can't forget about Chipper Jones. He set career highs in doubles and batting average and can lead this team to the playoffs. They also were close last year. If they had Texiara all year, they would have made the playoffs. The Mets have no pitching now and will fade off. Jimmy Rollins won't match numbers from last year and the Phillies will fade. That leaves Braves, Marlins, and Nationals. You do the math.

If I had to pick between the Mets, Phillies, and Braves to win the NL East, I'd have to pick the Phillies again. The Mets, at least on paper, have been the pre season favorite and I don't see that changing this upcoming season. But the Mets have no heart and that's why they will fail again. The Braves could finish second in the division and depending on their record could make the playoffs.
I wouldn't put too much stock in Glavine's return. His tank is almost empty. I think this season will be nothing more than his farewell tour. If he wins 10 games that will be a plus for the Braves. It would be nice to see Glavine go out a winner. All in all it should be another great year of baseball.

I actually think the Braves have the best shot at winning the NL East for a few of reasons. Glavine is back and whether he has a great year or not he will provide a lot of incentive to the rotation. On the other side of the coin, they dumped Andruw "Can't Spell His Name Right" Jones. Plus I think that Chipper Jones is due for a great season.
Last but not least, this is Bobby Cox's last year on his contract and it wouldn't surprise me if that provided the players with a season long incentive to win everything.

Bob D you are totally DEAD WRONG!!!! the mets are not even in the top 5(they didnt even win the east did they make the playofs? dont think so philly won the east colarado won the wild card and all they did this offseason was stay the same or you could make an argument they got worse)
anyway, as of now,no they might get the wild card behind philly in the east but they wont get far. but i think they'll make 1 or 2 big moves thiss offseason and win the east and make it to the NLCS game and lose to L.A who'll lose to Boston in the WS which i hate to admit but in the next 3-4 years they are a team to watch out for b/c are farm system is great as usual

The braves will not make the playoffs. The NL West is too strong...The D'Backs will win the division...the rockies and padres will battle for the wild card...so the braves wont win the WC...in the NL East, the Phillies pitching which was their weakness improved in both the starting and bullpen phases. Myers is a starter again...so hamels is the 1 myers is the 2...and the closer is lidge who basically just needed a change of scenery...he'll return to form.

Yes. Their pitching rotation is awsome, even without Hampton, who is questionable. Plus, Everybody in Atlanta wants to make sure Bobby goes out on top.

I dont think they will make the playoffs becuase they got rid of Renteria and Jones, 2 big parts of thier offense last year. Also their pitching staff really hasnt improved that much. Smoltz isn't getting any younger and will Hudson have the same year as last year?

I do not see them getting past regular season play. They just do not have the good stuff like they used to, the only way they can make it is if they keep benifitting from post season signings.
