When you eat out at a restaurant: do you season the food, first? Or do you taste it first to see?

if it NEEDS any salt and pepper?? I season first, since I'm used to my mother's cooking, and she's very anti-salt, so I know I'm going to have to season her stuff BEFORE I taste it. Which angers her to no end: "You haven't even TASTED it yet! How do you know it needs salt?!!?"

I don't salt anything.... I am a salt-hater..... I use herbs instead....

I seldom season food once it is on the table with a few exceptions. Like french fries - they get a shake of salt. But other than that I don't really salt food much after it is cooked. However fresh ground black pepper is a whole other issue. I love the stuff.

I just eat what I order 99 percent of the time, as it is served to me. About the only thing I season is a salad. If I order blue cheese dressing, I ALWAYS sprinkle on lots of black pepper. I like it that way.

I never use salt in my cooking unless it's crucial to the science of a recipe ( for example, you NEED salt to help yeast doughs rise). I come from a family with a history of hypertension. So, like your mother... I'm also very anti-salt.

Taste first as sometimes they pour a can of salt on it. Tado Bell is bad about that. We are salt free here also. But at the eat places, no telling what they put on it! Take care.

i ALWAYS pepper my food first..... as for salt i taste before i put salt on anything but u can never have too much pepper

I always salt (scrambled, over easy, sunny-side up) eggs when I'm out. Other than that I taste first.
