Honestly, I think it was a bad move. I understand his past injury problems, but he's young and still has a lot of talent. The difference between past injuries and this one is they actually know what the problem was.

Im pretty sure Prior costed them a good amount of money so I dont think it was a bad move. Prior does have a lot of talent but I dont see him going back to what he used to be after all of these injuries.

Yes and think of about the fact is that, he is reported to be ready to go until at least the all-star break in the 2008 season, and Jim Hendry doesn't want to take that risk. So now he can talk to all teams, and plus that does include the Chicago Cubs, but I can't say if they will end up re-signing or if his days on the North Side of Chicago are officaly over. But he can still talk to the Chicago Cubs about a new contract, but that doesn't mean that he will convicne Jim Hendry to sign him to a new contract. Right now who knows where he is, but he had jsut too much arm trouble, and it might be too much to take care of, and he has spent more time on the DL rather then pitching, and he spent the whole 2007 season on the DL< had season ending surjey, and couldn't play. So most of the money he has made with the Chicago Cubs, has either been at home, or with the Chicago Cubs but on the DL, rather then out ther earning the money every 4-5 days or so.

Hmm...regarding an above answer, where have you heard Mark Prior in the steroid allegations? I've only heard random people wonder because of his injuries but he was not mentioned in the Mitchell report nor has that ever been confirmed. Regardless, I think it was time to either get rid of Kerry Wood or Mark Prior and I think they made a good decision keeping Kerry and dumping Mark. Kerry has shown signs of improvement, not to mention Prior threw a fit when he was sent down to AAA.

Then again, the Cubs have a knack for letting pitchers go right before they get awesome so it might bite us in the @ss.

The Cubs did what I felt was necessary with Prior not to mention the fact that he's been named in the steroids allegations. Cubs picked up a little spending money with this. As far as Prior goes, there was a report at both ESPN and Yahoo Sports that there are 12 different teams looking at him --- with the Padres being the front runner and odds on favorite to sign him.

That's not an easy question, for the simple reason that despite his extensive injury history, his upside is substantial. Whoever takes a chance on him would be wise to offer him a contract with a small base, but heavily incentive laden. That being said, everyone is looking for an edge, top starting arms are not easy-or cheap-to come by, and somebody might just offer Prior a heftier guaranteed contract, figuring its worth the gamble if, as you said, they've figured out what his problem is and corrected it.

i'm no longer a Chicago Cubs fan, yet i will nonetheless prefer to respond to this question. i'm no longer prepared on the two Kerry timber or Mark previous. My Dad disagrees with me over Kerry timber, i do unlike him in any respect, i do no longer see what's so particular approximately him. properly enable's look at it this variety, yet Kerry timber and Mark previous have the two injured for the time of thier time enjoying for the Chicago Cubs, and plus in actuality that Kerry timber has been a Chicago Cubs pitcher longer then Mark previous. yet circuitously Kerry timber has manged again lower back, yet now as a reliever somewhat then a starter. And plus in actuality that he he had a great 3 hundred and sixty 5 days interior the bullpen this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, and all of us loves this guy, and that incorporates Chicago Cubs radio broadcasters Pat Hughes and Ron Santo. i'm uncertain what the television broadcasters Len Kasper and Bob Brenly think of of him, yet i'm guessing that they could be loving him besides. i may be the only guy or woman available that hates Kerry timber. If it have been me as Chicago Cubs genral manger, i might are transforming into to be rid of Kerry timber and Mark previous, yet for this reason those 2 adult adult males are fortunate that i'm no longer the GM of the Chicago Cubs. i'm uncertain what the Chicago Cubs front place of work has in ideas for pitching approach for 2008, so i won't be able to say for advantageous if it fairly is going to artwork. however the element is they are transforming into to be rid of one of two oftentimes injured pitchers that they have had over the final 10 years, or perhaps by he has purely been a Chicago Cubs pitcher in view that 2002, and the only good season he had which replaced into the 1st finished season that he had in 2003. whether it variety of feels to me at Kerry timber would be a member of the Chicago Cubs for an prolonged time again, somewhat i like it or no longer.

He was the master of the bullpen and towel drill. If someone needs a guy to fill that role then by all means they should sign him. But if you are expecting him to go out and pitch in a game then you are wasting your time and money. His name was on the leaked list but the lawyers took it off because they had less hard evidence on them and feared a lawsuit.

Yes they were smart to unload him. I for one would think it would be hilarious if Kenny Williams and the South Side White Sox pick him up as a middle reliever. His arm is good for an inning...

Yes. They could not afford to keep two injury-prone pitchers, and Prior has not shown the level of maturity to keep him there.
