Yahoo maps send you down secondary roads for miles and miles or sends you west from NJ pike to PA pike then 15 miles on rt 1. 95 dopes around and is not direct. I want as much highway as possible without the traffic lights.

From NYC, get out of either tunnel and get onto the NJ Turnpike South. Take Exit #4 onto Route 73 North to 30 W to 676 W

In order to get into Philly you have to do the 73/30 stuff.
If you only want to be on the outskirts, you can take an earlier exit onto the PA turnpike.

It will depend on where you're going in Philly. NJ turnpike to the PA turnpike, I would say is the best option. And it's easy, not a lot of changing roads, etc. If you are trying to go to center city, best bet is to probably get off the turnpike at the route 1 exit, and take 95 south. You are only on route 1 for a total of 10 minutes tops (with traffic) and then you would be on 95 until you get to the exit you need.

It all depends on where you are going in Philadelphia. You can take the NJ Turnpike to the PA Turnpike exit at Route 1 (Philadelphia) and then take 132(Street Road) East to 95 South. You can also try getting direction from randmcnally.com.

If the question is a serious one, the direct way is via NJ Turnpike to Exit 3 which costs about $8 in Tolls.

Yahoo! Maps came up with the US 1 option due to one's interest in not paying any tolls.

If theres not a particular reason that you wanna drive, I'd suggest taking the train! Take NJtransit to trenton, and Septa from Trenton to Philadelphia. It'll only cost you about $30 round trip! I can't help with the driving though, I've never done it!

If you can get into Jersey, go to 295 North...turns into 95 North... there's a million different places to hop into the city from there....
I recommend going to Hoboken and taking the train in.
