"The middle east" proclaims nothing. The middle east is a geographical fiction that even if assumed to be accurate will be millions upon millions of people. Some believe that American leaders are antithetical to religious beliefs. But the vast majority believe that the U.S. is another government that should be dealt with. However, the only official public figure that has ever called the U.S. the great Satan is the late Khomeini...so let's be a little nuanced in our questions.

NO! Of course not."The great Satan" ? How about the only reason the only reason that Nazi's Communist or Marxist haven't taken over the world. Sorry if we don't subscribe to Islamic nutcase rules. Of course I AM talking about the citizens. The ones who put George Bush in charge.

Let's see... We installed the Shah of Iran who had a very repressive secret police that engaged in torture. We back the Saudi government that basically keeps all of the oil revenue for themselves. We backed Saddam and gave him support when he waged war against Iran and even afer the first war, we allowed him to use his helicopters to drop nerve gas on his own people. And after we got tired of him, we invaded Iraq without a valid reason and have basically destroyed the country. What we've done in Iraq has to be the biggest international blunder this country has done. We bribed war lords to fight against the Taliban in Afghanistan and then allowed them to culitivate the largest poppy crops the world has ever known. We want to impose our culture on the Middle East and most people in this country would like better than to nuke the entire region and take all of the oil. We are the biggest polluters in the world. We are the richest country in the world and yet, we still want more. Oh, and we elected a moron named George W.Bush not once, but twice.

I went mountain climbing in Napal to vacation to get away from all the hustle of capitolism, and guess what I found lying in this creek in the middle of nowhere...an empty coke can, you seriously can't escape America even if you tried. I'm not saying we're satanic but we I can see how some people might view us that way.

From there point of view yes. What would you think if there were military bases or occupation of America. Don't think you would look to favourly upon it and might think the same.

We are that Satan. You are right and I think they take it as a general view of all Americans. Imperialism is alive and well.

All true Islamics want to carry out the prophecy that the Jews and Christians are to be executed, and that the Islamic religion should rule the world.

its merely a culture clash - for example, the east ( not just arabs and muslims, but asians as well) sees the individualism of the west as selfish... there are lots of these sorts of differences which are just percieved to be bad because of the belief system people are brought up in.
