My friends son was circumcised at birth, however he just turned 6 months old and at his last doctors apt. the doctor had said the foreskin is reattaching to the head of his penis. She said his doctor acted like it was pretty normal and to keep pulling the skin back gently at every diaper change and putting vasaline on it each time. We were just wondering if anybody else has had this problem? And if so, how long did it take it to unattach? Thanks

Penile adhesions are a common complication of circumcision.

The remaining skin from the circumcised penis is trying to go back to "normal" and re-adhere to the glans like it was before the genitals were surgically altered. The most common medical advice is that if the adhesions aren't bothering him, leave them alone. They should come loose on their own, just as if he would if his penis were left intact.

It's a complication of circumcision. It's crazy because people get their sons circumcised so they don't have to pull the foreskin back and clean, not knowing that the foreskin is attached on an intact boy, and on many circumcised boys especially where they don't take as much off, it tries to repair itself by re-attaching, and they are told to keep pulling it back.

''i'm not speaking with reference to the Islamic muslims''? What does that propose? All Muslim persist with Islam ergo ''Islamic'' A Muslim is a Muslim is a Muslim regardless of their nationality, race or gender. A Serbian Muslim follows the comparable policies as a Scottish muslim as a Turkish Muslim as a Canadian Muslim as a Saudi Muslim as as as we are all Muslim the policies are the comparable for all persons our geographical modifications do not make an oz. of difference. One Islam comparable policies for all. definite Serbian Muslims circumcise there sons. Islam = faith. Muslim = follower of reported faith, ergo all Muslims are Islamic. Islam isn't a place... @i like Allah - i'm good sister how are you? Insha Allah you're having a superb Ramadan too sister :)

This is a common side effect of circumcision. I find it hugely creepy and sad that a caregiver must cause a child ongoing pain in his private area just to keep him clean.

Our son is intact.

It actually sounds like an adhesion, it's a negative side-effect of circumcision. Many people have this problem and it varies on whether it detaches or causes a lifetime of problems. However, if it's actual foreskin, it should NEVER be retracted by force--only the boy himself, when he's old enough, should attempt to retract it, or it can cause permanent damage.

I've read about that happening a lot. Don't be too concerned, just listen to your doctor and if it doesn't get better within a month or two, give the doctor a call.
