The morning of my due date, I woke up around 8 with a very mild menstrual cramp feeling. It did not hurt; I could barely feel it. As the day progressed they got stronger and closer together. Then I figured out hey these must be contractions. So I went to the hospital around 4 pm. They sent me home around midnight. The pain got worse and worse and I could not sleep. We went back to the hospital around 4 am. The broke my water around 11 and I had her at 12:21. It went by very fast--the pushing that is. Hope this helps!

How Did Labor Start

My mucus plug fell out, then two weeks later, I had BH ALL DAY. Which was unusual because I never had more than a few here and there. It was for a good couple of hours. I called the midwife, said to wait, so I waited. A few hours after they stopped, my water broke. Contractions didn't start until 4 hours later, and my labor didn't progress, so I ended up induced about 9 hours after my water broke. Of course that isn't your normal labor, you should do just fine. I hope it's soon!

I guess my labor started in the evening, I did not feel quite right and didn't say anything thinking just normal pregnancy junk. I didn't really eat that much for dinner due to feeling icky, took a warm shower, played on the computer, and watched a movie with hubby. I was feeling crampy, and just sick. Then we went to bed and next thing I know I thought the dog had peed the bed about 3AM when it was my water that broke. I was 39 weeks. I was in no pain until I was about 5-6CM's. It could be labor... it could just be cramps, never know... just keep an eye on it. Maybe give your caregiver a call for heads up. Good luck!

I had a contraction at 8pm and went to bed. Woke up the next morning around 8am and was in full blown labor. Labored at home until 4pm got to the hospital and was 10cm and my bag of water was bulging. Broke my water and an hour later we had a beautiful baby boy.

Of course this isn't typical. All the rest of my labors were induced.

I had to be induced (which is twice as painful to natural labor)and was in labor for 18 horrendous hours. The entire time it felt like their was a little man under my back stabbing me with a steakknife. The anesthesiologist didn't come in until about 2 hours before I gave birth. That huge needle in my back was the biggest relief I've ever felt in my life. After that it was smooth sailing, but I was so full the drugs they had been giving me for pain, that I kept falling asleep during delivery. Overall, I would rate the experience as: Nightmarish. lol
It looks like your labor is starting however, so hopefully all goes well for you. Congratulations!

My water broke the day before I was to be induced. The Doc told me to go check into the hospital and once I did they went ahead with the induction. I never progressed though and 30 hours later I had a c-section :( This one will be a planned c-section though, so at least I know how it is going to be.

your best bet is to wait until your contractions are more regular and about 5-7 mins apart before you think about going to the hospital. unless your water breaks, then you should go right away. try to keep track of how far apart they are and maybe just call to check in with the nurses in OB at your hospital and see what they think. but, it does sound to me like your body is getting ready. with my first child, my water "broke" (it was really a slow leak) but they admitted me anyway and then with my second child, i woke up in the middle of the night with terrible contractions and barely made it to the hospital before she was born. it's really different every time. I hope this baby is fast too... I am 36 weeks now and I am sooo tired of being pregnant!! Good luck with everything.
