I think you should talk to your doctor about it. There are many side effects from taking the pill and most doctors don't recommend it unless you're having painful cramps, heavy periods or are having sex.
Tell your parents straight up that you're not having sex and the reasons you want to go on BC.
Good luck.

You can get birth control without informing your parents. It just costs your a butt load...especially if your health plan is through your parents and you don't want them to know about it.
I would just let your mom know that you're interested in using birth control. She'll probably be ok with it, honestly. Even if you were using it to prevent pregnancy, she should be happy that you're at least being responsible.
If it truly is about your period...I would definitely rethink it. It does have side effects (nothing too bad)...but if you're feeling really sick during your period, or your periods last too long, then yes, it is a good plan. If you are having fevers, heavy flow, and feel tired all the time during your period, it's time to go to the doctor to figure out what's going on. Birth control would not be the solution in this case.
Also consider the fact that birth control often causes 'spotting', which is a little bit of blood (like right at the beginning of your period). It can last all through the month, instead of 3-10 days like your period should. Just a thought.

I would just have an honest talk with your mom.
I will tell you that the "fewer periods" pills don't work for everyone. Instead of giving me fewer periods I had one long one that wouldn't stop for months.

Talk to your mom or get some other women you trust to open the subject of using this method to simplify your life. Don't try the "everybody is using it" approach. Maybe take her to your doctor for your next check up after someone has mentioned it to her and just ask the doctor what he/she thinks about whether you are prepared for this avenue.
P.S. It seems like you have received some good responses here. Tell your mom that you made this anonymous post and that you would like for her to consider some of the responses. Your parents want to trust you to be responsible. Sex or female issues can be uncomfortable areas between children and parents. Make sure not to leave dad out. It will mean a lot to the both of you if you just say "thanks for looking out for me, dad".

Depends on how young you are, you need to talk to your doctor about it. And read the entire warning sheet, you need to know the risks.
It will help reduce the flow of blood, I went from 5 days bleeding down to 3 and my cramps dropped to only half a day, which was a huge improvement.

You need ot ask yourself WHY you want to have fewer periods ?
Mess around with your periods now for no reason and you may find when you come off birth control in the future you're fertility is affected.
They can be a nusance but you have them for a reason.

You don't get fewer periods with 'the pill' you only get it with certain hormone therapy's (like the shot).
If you're not having sex then it should be pretty easy to talk to at least your mom about getting on the pill. Do research and show her the benefits.

I think you should tell them just like that. You seem to be a very mature young lady. Don't ever be afraid to tell your parents what is going on with you.
I had the same conversation with my daughter. We both agreed her periods were making our whole family MISERABLE!!!!

Tell your mom you want it to regulate your periods.
You could also wait until your next check up at your Dr's office and mention it to him/her.
