I'm majoring in psychology with a minor in addictions counseling. Psychology is my passion...and after I get my degree I would like to apply it to working with families who have domestic violence issues and/or drug addiction issues.

Psychology is more in depth than that though. I believe that you are overlooking it as too shallow. I had originally thought more like that however I took an AP psychology class in school and it is not as much knowing what, but more the why. Why did that person kill themselves? Why would he shoot a priest if he is a good Christian? If you think about it, the minds of others is the only thing we cannot prove without facts, so actually psychologists are trying to do one of the most difficult things. Some people also need help in their lives; for instance if they cannot organize their own thoughts or know why they did something or why they feel a certain way, psychologists are like personal teachers of yourself. Psychology is a a lot more than emotions as well. You have to know which part of the brain does which action or dictates which function. If someone is a serial murderer only in their sleep but when they wake up they are an angel and have no recollection of what happened, then the psychologists need to make then think in their own minds what is going wrong and why that certain part of the brain is acting this way. The most common form of this is multiple personality disorder, they are sent especially to psychologists to find out why is anomaly happens. Most people do not understand how deep in depth psychology gets. Yes it is a branch of biology but then again aren't there different branches of scientists? Of engineers? Of military? The most desired question in the human race is why and that is psychologists part to find out the why of human nature and explain.

Having said that however, don't believe one is ever done with their study of Psychology, education is just the beginning.

Before you learn you must understand one thing.
1. A psychotic person is not self-aware.
2. What does that say about sanity?
