I'm a little sad about coming home to my wife, kissing her, and then going our separate ways for the evening. She goes to do her sewing and I go and play computer games. I want to go in there with her and keep her company but what if she just continues to do her sewing and ignores me? Should I try to put my arm around her and pet her? She's bipolar but I love her very much and I miss her.

You could go in and just sit and talk with her. Ask her about what she is doing. Ask if you can help. Maybe take her in a cup of coffee or whatever she drinks.

I'm not so sure this will work but you can try and talk to her when she isn't busy or can still talk and ask her if she wants to do anything when she isn't busy or plan a vacation or something that might just relax the both of you and spend more time together. Also you can try and talk to her during sewing if you want! If she just ignores you don't worry. It's what she's doing and sometimes people want to be alone for a while. If that happens just leave her alone and you can try talking to her again later on.

sew and play computer games in the same room. being in the vicinity of each other may help for starters.

there were nights when my husband would play video games and i'd sit on the couch with him and read a book, knit, or sort through laundry. at times that was all we needed to stay or get connected to each other at the end of the day.

otherwise think of things you both like to do. movies. take up a class at a community college together. go to museums. read books, then switch books, and talk about them. do a puzzle together. play board/card games. the ideas are endless.

Take up sewing...

Just start slow and take an interest in things she does.

Merry Christmas
