I would suggest the Union Jack, since a third of the world's nations were under the British jurisdiction during its colonial days.

These nations, though now independent with their own flags would still recognise the Union Jack for what it is and stands for.

A third of the world's nations - that's an awful lot of people in terms of numbers.

The correct name for the British Flag is the Union Flag.
The Union Jack is a Royal Navy ship's flag.
It was once the most recognizable flag in the world because it was incorporated into the flags of many colonies in the British Empire.
Has anyone ever wondered why since all those countries who gained independence from the UK, the residents enjoyed British rule so much, that they now chose to leave their independent governed countries, and come to live in the UK.

Well it could be because the union jack is featured on the australian flag the new zealand and all of the other commonwealth nations of great britain from the days of rule britannia.

The most dissliked flag in the world is the u.s.a flag and you cant deny that fact anymore.

I'd go with the American flag, the Union Jack and probably Japan. Single red dot on a white background? Pretty memorable.

I think it has got to be the Stars n Stripes, just because it is probably the most hated flag worlwide (not IMO). There always some form of flag burning going on and generally you'll see it's the American flag being burned on tv and in newspapers.

Also you see alot of them in American films, as if they are trying to remind us that the movie is indeed American, take Spiderman 3 for eg: near the end there is a blatent shot of the US flag which fills the whole screen, which really wasn't neccesary to the story of the film.

So I would say the US flag is the more recognisable both culturally, and commercially.
