With two standard die there are 36 possible outcomes.
half of those will be odd and half of those will be even. So the chances that an odd roll will come up is 18/36.
There are five ways an eight can show up, 2-6, 6-2, 3-5, 5-3, and 4-4 so the odds of an eight showing up is 5/36.
So the probabillity of rolling an 8 or an odd number coming up is:
5/36 + 18/36 = 23/36
