The name we like is Lauren....but she wants to pronounce it like, "Law-ren" and I like "Lore-en" I know it sounds stupid to be stuck on such a trivial thing but a persons name is a big part of their life so we want to get it right...any suggestions on which you like better?

I think Lore-en is the more natural way to pronounce it, but honestly everybody will pronounce it how they want anyway. You can say Lore-en and your wife can say Law-ren. It's not such a big deal that it will confuse the baby.
It's a beautiful name by the way.

Well, I'd definately go with the Lore-en because when she gets to school, every teacher, etc that sees "Lauren" spelled out is going to pronounce it "Lore-en" and this sweet little child is going to have to correct them over and over until she doesn't like her name.

I think it depends on what part of the country you are from. I'm from the Northeast and everyone I know named Lauren is pronounced LAW-ren. I have a friend names Laurie and she is pronounced LAW-ree. But occasionally someone will call her Lor-ee and that really throws me off. I'm thinking they're calling someone names Lori (which to me is a totally different name than Laurie).
It is a beautiful name. I hope you can come to an agreement!

I prefer Lore-en.
Truthfully, she'll hear it both ways and many more besides. Even when people try to be faithful to a parent's wish, regional and foreign accents, other Laurens in their lives and such all influence how they'll say the name. In some ways, it's great that you both favor different pronounciations - this is one place where you'll both get to be right. ;)

i think if you name her Lauren she will be called "Lore-en". If her mom wants to call her "Law-ren" i think it's ok. I think it could be kind of special to have two distinct ways of calling your daughter. And as she gets older she can decide how she will introduce herself. My name is Laura and it's often pronounced differently. people from the south and england tend to make it sound like "law-rah" or "Lara" which is what it sounds like your wife would call Lauren. At least its not like Ralph Lauren which is more like "lore-on". as long as you can both agree to be okay with what the other would like to call her, it sounds like you've found a name! good luck.

We say "Lore-en" around here.
My hubby and I are having a problem with people pronouncing the name we picked for our daughter, too. Her name will be Ariana and we want it pronounced "Are E On Na" but our families and friends are making up all kinds of different pronunciations. LOL.
