My Knight in Cammo Armor. Even through the garbled echos and time lapse in his phone calls from Iraq, the mere sound of him on the other end of the line saying "Hi Baby" makes all the clouds disappear...and lets me know he's ok.

My precious friend Teri - I could not have made it through the last 26 years without her. She is my rock and my fortress, my sounding board, my advisor, my friend. I am honored and humbled to call her not only my friend, but my sister as well.

Among the zillion or so things we've talked about, many times it's been about other friends, old boyfriends, funny things we've done and aspirations that we still have.

She called me from a gas station bathroom and told me that she was pregnant with her first child. I cried in my office because I was so happy for her. She is the one I called when my husband told me after we got married that he didn't think he wanted children.... we prayed and talked and her voice brought peace to my heart. And, many years later she is the one I called as soon as I found out that I was pregnant. She was at the hospital when my son was born and knowing that she was there meant the world to me.

Teri is the one that I have prayed with, laughed with, cried with for the past 26 years. Amazing. What a ride it has been.

Most people don't have friends that they have kept for so long - I consider myself fortunate and lucky to have been with her through thick and thin - although distance has separated us, I look forward to many, many more years together.

My husband ... but, in fact, since I have been married to him I don't care about the 'dark clouds' because I know that we will be together through thick and thin ... right now it's REALLY THICK (we have a very good income) and we are enjoying it immensely, but if we were homeless that would be okay, too, as long as we were together.

Oh yes, my best friend of 25 years. She and I have survived 5 husbands (between us, not each!) and more bad dates/boyfriends than either cares to remember. Also the jobs we despised, not to mention bosses and co-workers. One phone call from her and all is well, whether it really is or not. There is no replacement for a best friend.

Yes, my 4 yr. old son. He sounds so innocent and sweet. His voice brings an immediate smile even when I'm in my deepest slump.
