Talk to someone about it, like a counsellor or a friend or a parent. Talk to you friend as well so you can work out your feelings about their actions and stuff.

It does have a big impact, suicide or attempts leave behind much hurt and questions. It is a very selfish act.

I suggest you understand that there are some people that wrongly think this is a way out of their problems. Learn what the warning signs are for suicide.

If anything, you should be happy that the attempt was unsuccessful and move on. If that is difficult for you after a week or so, seek out someone to talk to about it. Perhaps a counselor. I think you may be holding in anger about what this person did, which is understandable. But, you have to let it out in a mature fashion.

You can get depressed about this or you can take the best course by getting more information about a 12 step recovery program for folks like your friend.
Try to get him to a meeting a week (go with him or her) It might improve his or her life.
If you truly love this person as a friend and value this person, success in putting your friend
on the road to recovery is the best thing you can do.
If your friend is emotionally weak, and you go into a depression heck it does not look good for either one of you.

Try to understand that it wasn't your fault that your friend tried to commit suicide. If your friend will talk about it, perhaps try to find out what has been bothering her so badly that she would attempt suicide, and let her know that you are there if she needs someone to talk to.

Don't focus on what could have happened. Your friend is alive, and hopefully now she is receiving the help she needs. That's what you need to focus on.
