AJ is right. That number came from an American Bar Assoc survey. Being an attorney is no longer a guaranteed good salary job, especially right out of law school. Some of my graduating class worked in an intern program for certain courts for a year --- FOR FREE. That's right in order to get experience these people did not get any income for their 10-12 hour a day job. That shows how desperate law school graduates can be for that first big break.

$40,000 in actuality. Don't believe the inflated figures that law school admission committee compile. Those figures come from the top quarter of the class, the people who are likely to report salary in alumni surveys.

Truth is that there aren't very many jobs out there for lawyers.
