Hate to tell you this, but your calculator will not do your algebra homework for you. Even if you have one of the really fancy calculators with symbolic manipulation capabilities, you still have to be able to understand algebra in order to use those systems. Sorry.

The first answer sounds good,but the second one makes sense also. Luckily, I have absolutely no use for algebra in my life anymore. Hated it in high school and hate it now. good luck

The variable button is one. On a graphing calculator, there is an X, with a few other letters on it.
