Nope, I definately think the peacemaker was the best. He bought peace to the six nations confederacy and he set us back in our traditional ways. without him we probably wouldn't exist.

Tecumseh had failed at uniting the tribes of the eastern seaboard against the Americans through his oratory talent and influence of his one-eyed brother, the Prophet.
Tecumseh is perhaps the only American Indian in the 18th century to have secured a brigadier general's commission--from the English crown.
Despite his efforts and endeavors, I would not classify "Shooting Star," his Indian name, as the greatest of the Indians. I'd choose several others, such as Chiricahua Apache Chief Cochise, Lakota Chiefs Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, and even the renegade leader known by the world over--Geronimo.
The tribes of the east are simply not in the limelight as much as the Plains tribes and those of the great Southwest--the fighters.

Well it might depend on who's people were asked I'm sure...
I'm also sure there were (and are) some great *women* as well...though with white men's desire to come in and take over, they pretty much tried to push Native women into the same lowly status that they forced their own white women into. Thus...we don't know much about important Native women of history now do we...

I don't know about better but after he was defeated at the Battle of Detroit, he put a curse on American Presidents. Hope that helps. Oh, BTW, he was considered a mean dude.

I personally think Sequoyah was the greatest because he invented an alphabet for Native Americans. The others you mentioned were war leaders. I don't value war, I value learning.

They are all great. But one won't stand taller than another, they all sit equally, contributing to the circle as a whole.
Their spirits are still here, in the wind and rain.
...from what I like to think.

Tecumseh was a great indian alright, what with that medal flopping from his nose, but let's not forget Pontiac.
Tecumseh had a brother that liked to sit in the tipi and fart a lot, his name escapes me . Tecumseh got a lot of his predictions from reading that white mans books but he sure used the knowledge to his advantage.
