It is a theory that they should be aware of..... though i must clarify something that confuses many ppl.....we did NOT descend from gorillas chimpanzees or "monkeys" scientists believe that it is possible that perhaps we and the great apes (chimps, gorillas, organgutans, bonobos) branched off from the same anscetor thousands and thousands of years ago......all mammals are somehow related to each other for we share certian traits (live birth, mammary gland, fur) and thus are catergorized as so....plus did u known that there is a disease found in Chimpanzees that is very very similar to the AIDS virus?..There have been many discoveries of different fossils which are believed to be some of our early cousins Homo Erectus, Homo Habilis, australopithecus afarensis ect. but we didn't evolve from these guys having a big orgy and mutating no way! TWO SPECIES CAN NOT MIX AND CREATE FERTILE OFFSPRING! We can't make monkey ppl by mixing with monkeys lol....and a bunch of monkeys didn't make us!

But i will tell u as far as fossil evedince goes there have been hoaxes in the world of Anthropology like the "Piltdown Man".......believe it or not some times i get frustrated and question the whole evolution thing and i'm an Anthro major lol...but also studing trends in humans such as genetic diseases proved a lot to me for example ppl with diabetes type 1 seem to come from ancestors from Nortic countries like Sweden Norway Denmark as well as Ireland & England.....scientist believe that perhaps this could have been an adaptation to that enviornment....same with lactose intolerence

But just because its science doesn't nessesarily mean it is against the idea of a supreme being or "god" Albert Einstien once said the more he studied the world and science the more and more he believed that there had to be some kind of supreme being out there.......

Franz boas a famous anthropologist also said that he learned that all cultures are somewhat relavant to one another and that society and humans throughout time don't move lineraly (no one culture is superior to another and no one is truly primitive we are all equal in brain size and technology is a result of trade) this sounds somewhat familiar to the kind morals that other religions preach that we are all the same in the eyes of god.

Your kids don't have to believe evolution...but it's not a cult at all and was never ment to be.. they won't get sucked into it and stop believing in god trust me.....

I've been studying it for a couple years and i still believe in God and go to church.....if its the religion thing ur worried about?

Evolution in my opinion has nothing to do with us descending from monkeys---more like how the arctic fox came to be or the naked mole rat. Those are clear examples of evolution and how a genetic mutation worked in natures favor for a species. That can and should be taught in schools.

in the world around them evolution is happening everywhere. the religion issue is irrelevant to the fact that organisms evolve to fit the environment around them. there are things that you just cant ignore.

oh i dunno, because it is an intrinsic part of science?!!! if some ignorant religious group decides they don't believe in gravity should we propose an alternative, say "intelligent decline"? NO! so why do we even have to debate this? oh yeah, it's because we haven't evolved ourselves out of the incredible bumbling ignorance of mythology.
