with our prez that our economy is OK.

My fixed income hasn't changed appreciably in the past 5 years yet many essential items like groceries and gasoline have almost doubled in price. Is GWB living in the real world?

In coming to know our own business board leaders, I've discovered they are the same as politicians of the U.S. They voted to give themselves a raise with a $10,000 a year bonus and told the employees they will get higher pay and better bonuses too. When it came down to it, they voted at the last minute to keep our pay the same and our bonus the same (because the budget didn't allow for it). They don't care about the people, they are stuck on getting themselves richer. When they are rich, they want to be richer still. So when someone gets word to gwb about some people suffering, his facial expression may be to care but his mind is saying, "let them eat cakes."

Understand the delima, however, i'm not totally convinced that its all the prez's fault. It seems to me that our congress is more to blame because they are the ones that actually submit and write the bills that are then either passed or vetoed. So far with all the extra spending on pork barrell items that have gone unchecked for god knows how many years, is it a wonder we are in the shape we're in? The senate is to blame also--I'm not saying the prez is free and clear but neither are the 800 congress men and women and senators. Gwb is living in the real world but even as prez, he is limited as to what he can do. What we need is for all the politicans to get their heads out of thier dufflebags and start taking care of the people like they were elected to do or be put in the unemployment line. The economy is doing pretty good although as with most cases it could always be better.

Ya know, I always wondered if the president in office at any given moment is the president that reaps all the good from the actions the prior president took. Kind of like that "red tape" syndrome where it takes so long for things to be approved and finalized, that we always have a new president by then.

I'm WITH you, my friend! Everything is increasing but my paycheck. I was shocked to see how much the price of eggs have gone up in the past couple of months. Makes me want to get a farm, with my own cow and chickens. (LOL)

And if you belive that I have an igloo to sell you in Hawaii!!!
The housing market is causing a trickle down affect. The Legislatures are giving themselves raises, why the common man an Senior Citizens are trying to make do with what they got. People are over spending and have high credit card debt. People do not have Medical coverage and can't afford it on their own. And a lot of jobs do not offer it. The middle class is dissapearing. Yes, gas and food keeps going up, but salaries and SS benifits do not. Yes, SS gets a cost of living wage, but the medical also goes up and takes that all away.
We are going to be in a recession, and nobody cares.
I can go on and on, but I better shut my mouth, before I get in trouble.

Nah, he's in the world he described in Fahrenheit 911, the clip of him in his tux at a lavish gathering, saying something like it felt good to be among HIS people, those that have. Something like that. What's real is relative. If you're in a Land Rover, paying three times my rent every month, reality is shopping for diamonds, and gas is a matter of noticing the gauge now and then. If you've just put a few quarters in the bus box, you're sitting next to somebody who needs new shoes.

It doesn't matter who is President. Our world and country are much more complex than even 50 years. We don't manufacture anything in this country, the automobile industry keeps shooting itself in the foot, thousands of young people leave school without any skill, our infrastructure is crumbling but we continue to build stores that are soon vacant, and we just keep paving over valuable farm land and discouraging farming. Oh, and one last thing, things are going to get worse.

GWB lives in his own little rich world. He could never make it in ours.

Maybe he was referring to his and Laura's economy, or maybe he has a mouse in his pocket.
