Many migrants from Malta and Cyprus came to Australia after WWII. They married, had children and grandchildren so there are quite a few Australians with a Maltese or Cypriot background just as there are Australians with origins in more than 150 other countries. Australians don't stick labels on people. We don't have "Maltese Australians" or "Cypriot Australians" just Australians. If your background matters, I'll find out eventually if I need to.
